چکیده

The factorization of soft and ultrasoft gluons from collinear particles is shown at the level of operators in an effective field theory. Exclusive hadronic factorization and inclusive partonic factorization follow as special cases. The leading order Lagrangian is derived using power counting and gauge invariance in the effective theory. Several species of gluons are required, and softer gluons appear as background fields to gluons with harder momenta. Two examples are given: the factorization of soft gluons in B → Dπ, and the soft-collinear convolution for the B → Xsγ spectrum.

Factorization of heavy-to-light form factors in soft-collinear effective theory

Heavy-to-light transition form factors at large recoil energy of the light meson have been conjectured to obey a factorization formula, where the set of form factors is reduced to a smaller number of universal form factors up to hard-scattering corrections. In this paper we extend our previous investigation of heavy-to-light currents in soft-collinear effective theory to final states with invar...

Factorization and the Soft-Collinear Effective Theory: Color-Suppressed Decays

We discuss the soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) and kinematic expansions in B-decays, focusing on recent results for color suppressed B → D(∗)X decays. In particular we discuss model independent predictions for B̄ → Dπ and B̄ → D∗0π0, and update the comparison using new experimental data. We show why HQET alone is insufficient to give these results. SCET predictions are also reviewed for ot...

Factorization and Sudakov Resummation in Leptonic Radiative B Decay

Soft-collinear effective theory is used to prove factorization of the B → γlν decay amplitude at leading power in Λ/mb, including a demonstration of the absence of non-valence Fock states and of the finiteness of the convolution integral in the factorization formula. Large logarithms entering the hard-scattering kernel are resummed by performing a two-step perturbative matching onto the low-ene...

Non-factorizable contributions to deep inelastic scattering at large x

We use soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) to study the factorization properties of deep inelastic scattering in the region of phase space where (1− x) ∼ ΛQCD/Q. By applying a regions analysis to loop diagrams in the Breit frame, we show that the appropriate version of SCET includes anti-hard-collinear, collinear, and softcollinear fields. We find that the effects of the soft-collinear field...

Soft-Collinear Effective Theory: Recent Results and Applications

Soft-collinear effective theory (SCET) has become a standard tool to study the factorization of shortand long-distance effects in processes involving low-energetic (soft) particles and high-energetic/low-virtuality (collinear) modes. In this contribution I give a brief overview on recent results for inclusive and exclusive B decays and on applications in collider physics. [Contributed to “Quark...
